Welcome Ministry
The Welcome Ministry's principal goal is to recognize and reach out to anyone who is visiting our church and to initiate the process of bringing those people into the fold of our congregation. This starts every Sunday when visitors enter our church by having a member of this ministry greet and welcome all worshipers on Sunday morning and making sure that anyone who we think might be a visitor is made to feel welcome at our church.
Visitors who fill out a visitor card are subsequently visited in their home by a member of the welcome ministry to thank them for worshiping with us and to drop off a church information package. We also make a follow-up phone call to invite them back to the church.
This welcoming process culminates with a New Comers Luncheon held every 2-3 months where folks who are interested in joining Aquia Episcopal Church are addressed by the Rector with a short history of our church and a tour of the grounds followed by a fabulous buffet luncheon where they can get to know other church members. To schedule all of these activities on a regular basis, usually on a rotating 3-4 week interval requires us to maintain a fairly large number of ministry members. The optimum number is 16 and we usually have about 12-14 members, so anyone interested will be well employed in this endeavor.
This is a perfect ministry for folks who are not motivated by doing committee work or attending meetings. All of our work, except for the luncheon, is done individually based on a schedule that can be adjusted to your availability. If interested, please contact Bill Hoffman (540 809 1162).
